DC is getting left behind by Marvel, but nothing theyve done touches the Nolan trilogy. Im so happy I saw this movie the way I did. Ever since I was a kid I was obsessed with Batman and when I watched Batman Begins I wanted even more of him. So when this movie came out I begged my grandparents to let me see it, bc my parents thought I was too little) and they finally agreed. I had no idea that Heath Ledger had died and I just remember thinking to myself as an 8 year old that this is the greatest acting I have ever seen. I had goosebumps every scene he was in, he was scary but he was also funny. I loved it so much that when I got out of the movie I said hes my favorite actor. The fact that Heath Ledger passed away before this movie was released is an absolute travesty. The casting, direction, and acting in this movie is so superb it was a big downer that it did not get more love come Oscar time. I understand its a comic book movie. However if you remove that element and go on just the movie itself that these are all people who have no super powers what-so-ever and self made villains or heroes. Just take into account that Christopher Nolan, after you watch the breathtaking scenes and cinematography, refuses to go digital and the movie is 100% IMAX filmed. Christian Bale just commands the screen and works well off of Heath Ledger. The switch to Maggie Gylenhahl from Katie Holmes wasn't jarring and honestly a much better actress. Everything in this move, from beginning to end, is so believable if one had the money, means, and resources to become the villain or hero. Also, I actually love the fact the Nolan puts a thought into your head as to, What is the definition of a hero or a villain. with at the end Batman taking the fall for all of Harvey Dent's failures to keep him praised as a hero. Therefore Batman can truly can take the moniker of Dark Knight as even though he is doing good he is hunted by police and all law enforcement with only Jim Gordon knowing the truth. A lot deeper movie than most people give it credit for at face value.
